Vogue Artist of the Week: Sarah Jaffe

Ever since the release of her 2010 debut, Suburban Nature, 26-year-old Texan Sarah Jaffe has been synonymous with a certain kind of female-fronted acoustic alt-folk—she’s often compared to Jessica Lea Mayfield and Sharon Van Etten, two singer-songwriters known for mixing wistful melodies with just a hint of raw, grungelike snark. That was until “Glorified High,” the drum machine–laden first single from Jaffe’s sophomore album The Body Wins, which will be released April 24 and takes her music in a completely new direction.

Sarah Jaffe's new album featured by NPR Music


Before The Body Wins, Sarah Jaffe had released one full-length album and a pair of EPs, all of which showcase a moody, laconic, singer-songwriterly country-folk sound. They're each enormously promising — from the early gem "Even Born Again" to the breakthrough ballad "Clementine," all the way through a strangely sweet cover of Drake's "Shut It Down" — but none suggest the stylistic leap Jaffe takes on The Body Wins.

Toadies Announce Single "Summer of the Strange"

Toadies will release the single "Summer of the Strange" on May 8. A full album is now in the works and a summer release date is expected.

Dia De Los Toadies 5 Details Released

The 5th Annual Dia Los Toadies will be held Labor Day weekend, Aug 31 - Sept 1, 2012. The venue will be the Whitewater Amphitheater outside of New Braunfels, Texas. The complete lineup will announced at a later date.
